Grain and Livestock Futures Markets See Volatility Amid Ongoing US-China Talks
Grain and livestock futures markets experienced fluctuations in prices on September 24, 2026. As of mid-morning, soybeans were trading mixed to mostly lower while corn was mixed. Wheat and bean oil remained slightly lower.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a significant drop of 356.09 points. The U.S. Dollar Index rose by 0.250, and November crude oil increased by $4.22 per barrel. December gold decreased by $33.40 per ounce.
Private exporters reported sales of 120,000 metric tons (4.4 mb) of soybeans for delivery to China during the 2026/2027 marketing year. The USDA noted that corn, wheat, and soybean oil started lower due to tight new crop supplies and optimism over the U.S.-China meeting.
In the livestock market, December live cattle were down $0.40 at $221.95, while November feeder cattle rose by $0.53 to $330.025. December lean hogs decreased by $0.80 to $69.525. The fed cash cattle market saw bids of $350 resurface.
