Grain and Livestock Markets Start Week on Mixed Note
The grain and livestock futures markets began the week on a mixed note.
As of July 28, 2026, at 8:41 AM CDT, December corn was steady while November soybeans were up 9 3/4 cents per bushel. However, September KC wheat and September Chicago wheat both declined by 14 1/2 cents and 18 1/4 cents per bushel respectively.
The USDA reported that private exporters had sold 197,272 mt of corn to unknown destinations for the 2026/2027 marketing year. Corn prices rose as a result of worsening conditions, while soybeans remained relatively unchanged. Wheat prices continued their downward trend for the fourth consecutive day.
Meanwhile, in the livestock complex, October live cattle gained $2.03 at $220.8 per pound, while September feeder cattle rose by $3.58 to $335.5. October lean hogs also increased by $0.30 to $88.1 per hundredweight.
