Grain Futures Firm as Pro Farmer Crop Tour Reveals Lower Corn Yields

Grain futures were mostly firmer overnight as bulls continued to hold their ground. At 6:00 a.m. CDT, December corn was up 1 3/4 cents, while November soybeans rose by 11 1/4 cents.

The Pro Farmer Crop Tour results for Indiana and Nebraska showed lower corn yields and soybean pod counts compared to last year's tour results. In Indiana, the yield fell to 183.54 bushels per acre, down 5.3% from 193.82 a year ago and 2.1% below the three-year average.

In Nebraska, the corn yield was pegged at 163.61 bushels per acre, down 8.9% from 179.50 bushels per acre last year and 5.6% below the three-year Tour average of 173.32.
