Bangladesh Approves Emergency Import of 14 LNG Cargoes Amid Energy Crisis
The Bangladesh government has taken emergency measures to address its worsening energy crisis by approving the direct purchase of 14 liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes without a tender process.
This decision was made during a Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs meeting chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, which took place on Wednesday.
The shrinking reserves at floating LNG terminals have put significant strain on the country's power grid and industrial sectors in recent weeks.
