Grain Futures Plummet as Live Cattle Prices Rise
The Chicago Board of Trade reported closing prices for Friday, September 18. Corn futures saw declines in both December and March contracts, with December down 3 at $5.27 per bushel and March down 3 at $5.41.
Soybean futures also fell, with November down 16 at $13.03 and January down 17 at $13.19 per bushel. Wheat futures experienced a similar drop, with December down 13 at $7.13 and March down 13 at $7.29 per bushel.
On the other hand, live cattle futures saw increases in both October and December contracts, with October up 20 at $215.85 and December up 32 at $216.57 per hundredweight.
The U-S CME price for Ontario Pork was reported to be $84.44 per hundredweight, dressed weight, which is down $1.16 from the previous day. The 100% formula price was also down, at $213.73 per hundred kilograms, dressed weight.
