Grain Market Weakness Continues as USDA Data Release Looms
The grain market is showing signs of weakness as futures prices remain steady-weaker overnight. December corn was down 3/4 cent, while November soybeans were unchanged. However, the situation may change with the release of USDA data on Wednesday, which could provide insight into demand for U.S. crops.
China's recent decision to cut tariffs on U.S. agricultural products has sparked hope for increased demand, but the exclusion of soybeans from these cuts has raised concerns among American farmers. The American Soybean Association expressed disappointment at this omission and is counting on China's previous pledges to buy 25 million tons of U.S. soybeans annually through 2028.
Meanwhile, a wave of low pressure over the Northern Plains today will produce showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain over other parts of the Midwest. This may impact crop conditions in the region, particularly for corn and soybean harvests.
