Grain Markets Hit New Highs Amid Ongoing Global Supply Chain Disruptions
Grain markets saw significant price movements on September 2nd, 2026. December corn futures fell by 2.5 cents to $5.43 1/2, reaching a contract and three-year high early in the session. The corn market received buying support from chart-based speculators, as well as a weaker U.S. dollar index and higher crude oil prices.
Soybean and soybean meal futures also reached new highs, with November soybeans falling 7.5 cents to $13.10 1/4 and December soybean meal losing $3.00 to $349.60. However, some profit-taking pressure from shorter-term traders set in by the close.
Winter wheat futures markets paused for most of the session but were pushed lower by the close due to limited selling interest caused by Black Sea supply constraints. Russia and Ukraine's ongoing conflict with each other's export infrastructure continues to impact global wheat supplies.
