Grain Markets Plummet After USDA Production Numbers
The grain markets took a hit after the USDA released its production numbers on September 11, 2026. December corn futures fell by 3.5 cents to $5.30.25, down 6.5 cents for the week. The soybean complex also declined, with November soybeans dropping by 35.75 cents to $12.96.50 and December soybean meal losing $4.10 to $352.80.
The USDA's WASDE report showed a mixed bag of numbers, but ultimately favored the bearish camp. The corn futures market gyrated on both sides of unchanged after the release, with some profit-taking pressure and weak long liquidation.
Wheat futures also fell, with December SRW wheat dropping by 16 cents to $7.25.25 and December HRW wheat losing 20.25 cents to $7.98.50. The winter wheat futures markets saw more profit-taking pressure today, as well as weak long liquidation.
Cotton futures took the biggest hit, with December cotton falling by 216 points to 86.06 cents, a three-week low close and down 27 points for the week.
