Grain Markets Sink Ahead of Critical USDA Report
U.S. grain markets closed lower on August 11 as traders reduced positions ahead of USDA's August WASDE report, putting corn, soybeans, and winter wheat into negative territory.
The move is a concern for American producers, who are already facing challenging commodity prices and potentially large harvests that could tighten farm margins.
Soybeans lost over 0.75% as traders focused on prospective production and ending stocks rather than isolated export announcements.
Corn losses were relatively modest, with September futures falling 1.5 cents to $4.3675 per bushel, while USDA's latest crop assessment showed 61% of U.S. corn rated good to excellent.
