Grain Markets Stumble Amid Bearish Report
Grain markets struggled to find footing in the final week of September, ending on a down note. The bearish tone was set by Wednesday's Grain Stocks report, which showed a disappointing corn supply. As a result, December corn dropped 30½¢ over the week to close at $4.97¾ per bushel.
The soybean market also took a hit, with November soybeans falling 40¾¢ to settle at $12.78¼ per bushel. However, CBOT wheat managed to stay afloat, rising by a mere ¼¢ to close at $6.83 per bushel.
Looking ahead, the market is bracing for the impact of an expected harvest slowdown due to heavy rainfall in Iowa. This could lead to increased production estimates and potentially boost prices. The upcoming WASDE report on October 9th will also be closely watched for any updates on soybean balance sheets and corn supplies.
