Grain Markets Waver Amid US-China Trade Uncertainty
Grain and livestock futures markets experienced mixed results on Thursday, September 24th. December corn prices declined by 1.25 cents per bushel, while November soybeans dropped 2.5 cents. In contrast, soymeal remained higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 226.06 points, but the U.S. Dollar Index rose 0.23.
The U.S.-China trade discussions at the White House did not provide any clear direction for traders. Rain was moving across the Plains from Texas to Minnesota, which may impact crop yields in the coming weeks.
Earlier in the day, corn and wheat prices were mixed, while soybeans and meal traded higher due to tight new crop supplies and optimism surrounding the U.S.-China meeting.
