Grain futures climbed overnight as concerns over deteriorating crop conditions and a slower-than-usual harvest weighed on markets. As of 6:00 a.m. CT, December corn rose 3 cents, November soybeans gained 5 ¼ cents, and December soybean meal increased by $4.90. Wheat prices also saw gains, with soft red winter wheat up 6 1/4 cents and hard red winter wheat rising 7 3/4 cents. The USDA's weekly Crop Progress Report highlighted worsening conditions for corn and soybeans, with harvest progress lagging due to wet weather in the western Corn Belt.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order easing restrictions on the use of dyed diesel for on-road vehicles, allowing farmers to use the tax-exempt fuel in highway trucks. The move aims to reduce costs for farmers, though economists warn it could lead to higher prices for off-road diesel due to increased demand. American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall praised the decision, noting that every cent saved matters for agricultural operations.

USDA data showed 54% of the corn crop rated as good or excellent, down from 57% expected, while 23% of the crop had been harvested, below the five-year average of 27%. Soybean conditions also declined, with 57% rated good to excellent and harvest progress at 25%, trailing the five-year average of 33%. Pro Farmer's Crop Condition Index reflected these declines, dropping 2.34 points for corn and 2.48 points for soybeans.

Rising global bond yields and higher interest rates are altering the financial dynamics of grain storage, increasing the opportunity costs of holding grain. Meanwhile, international developments included China's disappointment over limited engagement during President Xi Jinping's visit to Washington, and weak monsoon rains in India reducing tractor sales by 12.6%. Malaysian palm oil futures rose to MYR 4,580 a ton, supported by a weaker ringgit and gains in crude oil.
