Grain Prices Surge Amid Crop Production Estimates
Grain prices have reached their highest point in over a month, with French wheat for December peaking at €241/t on August 20. This marks the highest price since July 22, when it closed at €247/t.
Corn has followed a similar trend, and markets in both the US and UK show comparable patterns.
The Pro Farmer Crop Tour recently wrapped up after surveying over 3,000 fields across seven US states. The tour estimated US corn production to be around 15.344 billion bushels at an average yield of 173.2bu/ac, which is behind the USDA's August estimate of 180.7bu/ac.
Soybean production for 2026 was estimated at 4.572 billion bushels based on an average yield of 53.3bu/ac, slightly higher than the USDA's estimate of 52.7bu/ac.
