Grain Prices Tumble Amid US Harvest and China Trade Uncertainty
Grain prices fell on Tuesday as the US harvest advanced and Chinese trade took center stage. The price of corn, soybeans, and wheat declined due to a surge in crop supplies and concerns about export demand.
The national average cash corn price was estimated at $4.915 per bushel, roughly 45 cents below December futures. This is a significant drop, especially considering the recent Midwest rainfall has slowed fieldwork in some areas but not fundamentally changed the supply picture.
Soybeans held closer to recent highs despite Tuesday's decline. November futures finished less than 10 cents below the two-year intraday high of $13.3525 reached on September 11.
The market is caught between harvest-driven supply pressure and export-driven expectations. Corn and soybean harvests are running ahead of their five-year pace, while wheat faces weak US export movement and expanding global competition.
