Grains and Livestock Futures Markets See Significant Fluctuations
The grains and livestock futures markets experienced significant fluctuations on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The DTN Quick Takes reported that December corn was down 3/4 cent per bushel, while November soybeans were down 3 1/2 cents. In contrast, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 174.98 points.
The USDA announced private exporters' sales of 132,000 metric tons (4.9 mb) of soybeans for delivery to unknown destinations during the 2026/2027 marketing year. Despite this news, grain and soy markets continued to decline, with wheat leading the way.
Cattle contracts also showed mixed results, with October live cattle down $0.28 at $213.325 and October lean hogs up $0.20 at $81.325. The cash cattle market remained idle due to a lack of bids, but asking prices were noted at $228 to $230 in the South.
