Grains Slide as Harvest Pressure Mounts, Cattle Market Takes Heavy Hit
The grain market saw losses across the board on Thursday, with corn and wheat falling under pressure from harvest activity and weak crude oil prices. Corn futures ended down by 3 to 4 cents, while December corn trimmed some of its earlier losses.
Soybeans were a bright spot in the complex, finishing near unchanged despite weakness elsewhere in the grain markets. Soybean meal extended its rally to over two-year highs, helping to support soybean prices.
The wheat market also saw significant losses on Thursday, with contracts finishing 3 to 5 cents lower after opening under heavy selling pressure. However, buyers returned as the session progressed, trimming some of the earlier losses.
