Grains Slide as Livestock Prices See Mixed Results
Grain futures were mostly lower on the Chicago Board of Trade in early trading on Friday. The price of September corn fell by 0.25 cent to $4.46 a bushel, while September wheat dropped by 0.25 cent to $6.63 a bushel. However, there was some good news for oats investors, as the price of September oats increased by 2.25 cents to $3.14 a bushel.
The soybean market also saw losses, with August soybeans falling by 0.25 cent to $11.77 a bushel. This mixed performance in grain futures was reflected in the livestock markets, where beef prices were mixed and pork prices were lower.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange saw some changes in livestock prices on Friday. August live cattle rose by 0.05 cent to $2.31 a pound, while feeder cattle remained unchanged at $3.46 a pound. However, the price of August hogs fell by 0.05 cent to $.98 a pound.
