Grains Take Hit as Favorable Weather Forecast Pressures Prices
Grain markets took a hit on Wednesday as favorable Midwest weather forecasts put downward pressure on prices. September corn closed down 9.5 cents, while December corn was down 8.75 cents. Soybeans also suffered losses, with September soybeans closing at 28.75 cents lower and November soybeans down by 27.25 cents.
The wheat market finished slightly lower as well, despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding grain exports from the Black Sea region providing some support. However, traders remain focused on weather forecasts, which are crucial during the pollination and pod-setting season.
In a more positive note, cattle futures rebounded strongly after several volatile sessions, with prices recovering from recent losses due to bargain buying. The cash market for cattle has remained firm despite concerns about increased supplies following the reopening of Mexican cattle imports.
