Grassley Seeks Diesel Export Embargo as Iowa Prices Hit $6 a Gallon

Senator Charles Grassley is calling on President Donald Trump to impose an embargo on diesel exports as prices in Iowa surge past $6 per gallon. The increase from last year's average price of $3.50 to $3.75 per gallon is a significant burden for farmers, who use approximately three gallons of diesel fuel per acre.

Grassley notes that the United States exports a high amount of diesel and suggests an embargo would help alleviate rising prices in-country. He references previous embargos on soybeans and wheat in the 1970s as a precedent for such action.

The senator also highlighted the impact of high diesel costs on truckers and the economy at large, emphasizing that farmers are not the only ones affected by these price increases.
