Greek Households Prepare for Harsh Winter Amid Rising Energy Costs

Greece is bracing for a harsh winter as energy costs are expected to rise across heating oil, natural gas, and electricity.

Heating oil prices have surged by approximately 75.5% year-over-year in the Attica region, with the current average price ranging from €1.96 to €1.97 per liter.

Natural gas has seen a smaller increase of around 39.8%, but it remains more competitive than heating oil due to its efficiency advantages and lower costs.

The Greek government is preparing measures to mitigate the impact on households, including potential price caps, subsidies, and tax interventions.
