Greek-Operated Patriot Intercepts Yemen Missiles Targeting Saudi Oil Refineries
A Greek-operated Patriot air defense battery in Saudi Arabia successfully intercepted two ballistic missiles fired from Yemen by Houthi jihadists toward oil refineries in Yanbu on Saturday.
The projectiles were aimed at the city's refining facilities, according to Greek security sources cited by Reuters. The Saudi Civil Defense issued an emergency warning as the missiles approached.
Greece deployed the US-made Patriot system and its military crew to Saudi Arabia in 2021 under a bilateral agreement intended to strengthen the protection of the kingdom's energy infrastructure.
