Three members of a gang of metal thieves were arrested in northern Greece after a high-speed chase near Thessaloniki. The suspects allegedly caused over half a million euros in damage to the power grid and stole nearly 100 transformers since January.

The gang's actions are linked to rising copper prices, which have triggered a spate of thefts targeting transformers and other electric infrastructure. Police tried to stop the suspects' car after spotting it was registered as stolen, but they rammed two patrol cars and drove off.

During the chase, one of the suspects fired a shotgun at pursuing police from the fleeing vehicle. The suspects eventually crashed into another car, injuring its occupants before coming to a halt.
