Greenland Energy Company's oil exploration plans in Greenland have been delayed by a year. The Calgary-based company, along with Canadian partners Stampede Drilling and Quebec shipping firm, had been preparing to drill exploration wells in eastern Greenland later this year.

The drilling rig was being upgraded in Alberta, while equipment was being shipped from Denmark and Houston. However, the project has been pushed back due to unforeseen delays.

According to the company's plans, the first oil wells would be drilled in the barren tundra of Greenland's east coast, marking a significant step for the country's energy industry.
