Grupo México Copper Profit Soars 90.9% in Q2 2026 on Strong Demand and Falling Costs
Grupo México's net profit soared by 90.9% in the second quarter of 2026, reaching US$2.09 billion. This significant increase was driven by rising global copper demand and a sharp reduction in production costs.
The company attributed its success to the growing importance of copper in the energy transition, citing decarbonization, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and electric vehicle demand as key drivers of growth.
Grupo México's diversified business model, which includes mining, transportation, and power generation through its recent acquisition of Saavi Energía, has allowed it to capitalize on strong copper prices and expanding global demand.
