Gulf Leads Strong Grain Basis Values Amid Northern Plains Weakness
The latest grain basis data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Transportation service shows that Gulf Coast locations are leading with strong positive basis values, while several northern Plains and Corn Belt elevator bids recorded negative basis readings.
In the week ended Sept. 11, 2026, the strongest positive basis row in the report was Gulf - Louisiana 30-Day to Arrive Hard Red Spring Wheat, which showed a bid of 9.45 against December futures of 7.45 for a basis of 2.
Gulf Coast locations including Texas and Louisiana also held strong positive basis values, with bids ranging from 1.046 to 2. Portland and other locations on the West Coast had weaker positive or negative basis readings.
