Gunnison Copper Aims for NYSE American Listing in Late October
Gunnison Copper is eyeing a late-October listing on the NYSE American exchange under the ticker symbol GUNN, aiming to attract US investors and bolster its role in domestic copper supply chains. The company has received pre-clearance for the proposed listing, which includes a Level II American Depositary Receipt (ADR) program. Each ADR will represent 35 common shares, offering US investors access to a dollar-denominated security.
The move aligns with Gunnison Copper's goal of strengthening its contribution to US copper supply chains, as demand for the metal grows in sectors like artificial intelligence, electrification, and defense. The company already operates the Johnson Camp Mine in Arizona, which produces up to 25 million pounds of copper cathode annually. Additionally, its flagship Gunnison Copper Project could significantly expand production, with a preliminary economic assessment estimating an average annual output of 174 million pounds of copper over 15 years.
Gunnison Copper must still secure final approval from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and obtain necessary listing approvals. Its common shares will continue trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker GCU during the process. CEO Craig Hallworth emphasized the strategic importance of copper in expanding sectors and the company's commitment to enhancing domestic supply chains.
The proposed listing could improve investor access and corporate visibility, potentially supporting future copper production expansion. However, the immediate impact on copper prices is expected to be limited, as prices will remain more sensitive to global demand, inventories, and project execution.
