Guyana Surpasses 900k bpd Oil Production, Targets 1.7 MMbpd by End of Decade
Guyana's oil production has been rapidly increasing and is now above 900,000 barrels per day (bpd). According to Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat, the country is on track to approach 1.7 million bpd by the end of the decade.
Bharrat made this statement during the in-country launch of Caribbean Energy Week 2027. Guyana's production has grown significantly from approximately 80,000 bpd in 2020, making it one of the world's fastest-growing oil producers.
The expansion of offshore production and associated gas infrastructure is expected to support additional investment in energy services, infrastructure, and manufacturing as Guyana's petroleum industry continues to grow. Bharrat also highlighted opportunities for international companies to partner with domestic businesses under the country's local-content framework.
