Guyana's Oil Exports Top $15 Billion in First Half of 2026
Guyana's oil exports reached a record-breaking milestone in the first half of 2026, exceeding US$15 billion. According to the country's 2026 Mid-Year Report, total export earnings climbed 76.4% to US$16.2 billion during the first six months of the year. This significant increase was driven largely by an 82.1% surge in crude oil earnings to US$15.05 billion.
The growth in oil exports is attributed to rising production and stronger oil prices. Guyana produced 163.3 million barrels of crude oil between January and June, up from 115.7 million barrels during the corresponding period in 2025. Average daily production increased from about 639,000 barrels to approximately 902,000 barrels.
The government is now projecting petroleum deposits of nearly US$6.5 billion for the full year, a 136.8% increase from the amount projected when the 2026 national budget was prepared. This upward revision reflects higher crude oil prices, increased production from the One Guyana FPSO, and a larger number of projected profit-oil lifts.
The country's oil and gas sector is expected to grow by 24.2% this year, while the non-oil economy is projected to expand by 10.2%. Higher petroleum earnings are also expected to boost resources flowing through Guyana's Natural Resource Fund, or NRF.
