Halo Minerals Prices Playa Verde Project at $92.8 Million

Halo Minerals has put a price tag of $92.8 million on its Playa Verde tailings reprocessing project in Chile, excluding VAT. The company outlined an 18-month build and a potential October 2028 start-up.

The project is part of a seven-year plan to reprocess old mine waste (tailings) and recover copper and gold. Halo expects to process 5 million tonnes of tailings per year and produce about 8,640 tonnes of copper and 1,400 ounces of gold annually, with operating costs of $2.20 per pound of recovered copper.

The company labeled both capital spending (capex) and operating costs (opex) as AACE Class 3 estimates, which are based on early-to-mid stage engineering and typically carry a -10% to +15% accuracy range.
