Hang Seng Index Declines in Early Trading
The Hang Seng Index opened lower on Monday, shedding 43 points or 0.2% to settle at 23,929 points during early morning trading. In contrast, the Hang Seng Tech Index saw a modest gain, climbing 0.1% to approximately 4,162 points.
Other global markets showed mixed movements. Japan's Nikkei surged 2% early in the session, while Nasdaq futures and S&P 500 futures advanced 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively. The EUROSTOXX 50 futures gained 0.3%, and FTSE futures added 0.4%.
Commodities also saw shifts, with spot gold rising 0.4% to US$4,158.17 per ounce. Meanwhile, US gold futures for December delivery increased 0.6% to US$4,186.40.
