Hanwha Ocean Lands $500M Contract for Two LNG Carriers

Hanwha Ocean Co., a South Korean shipbuilder, has secured a major contract to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. The order is worth 680 billion won (approximately $499.6 million) and will be delivered by November 2029 to an African shipowner. This new deal brings Hanwha Ocean's total orders for the year to 41 vessels, with a combined value of $7.71 billion.

The South Korean company has secured orders for various types of ships this year, including 18 very large crude carriers, eight LNG carriers, and six container ships. The latest contract is a significant milestone for Hanwha Ocean, demonstrating the company's expertise in building specialized vessels for the energy industry.
