Hanwha Ocean Secures LNG Carrier Orders Worth 680 Billion Won
Hanwha Ocean (042660.KS) has secured an order for two liquefied natural gas carriers from an African shipowner, worth approximately 680 billion won. This deal brings the company's cumulative order value in September to about 2.9 trillion won.
The latest contract is part of a series of orders Hanwha Ocean has received this month. On September 1st, the company won an order for three very large gas carriers from an Oceania-based shipowner. Then on September 3rd, it secured an order for six 13,650-TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships from Taiwan's Yang Ming Marine Transport for 1.5527 trillion won.
Hanwha Ocean's orders so far this year total 41 vessels worth $7.71 billion. This includes a range of ship types, such as very large crude carriers, LNG carriers, and wind turbine installation vessels. However, the company is facing challenges due to prolonged labor negotiations and ongoing partial strikes.
