Harris Blames Middle East War, Not Russian Strikes, for Energy Crisis
Irish Finance Minister Simon Harris says the global energy crisis is caused by the war in the Middle East, not strikes on Russian oil refineries. In an interview with Euronews, he stated that de-escalation in the region is the key to resolving the crisis.
Harris attributed the turmoil in energy markets to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and US President Donald Trump's war with Iran. He noted that when there was a brief lull in the conflict during the summer, commodity prices dropped sharply, leading to lower fuel prices at filling stations.
The minister emphasized that the most significant economic step would be de-escalation in the Middle East, referencing the Strait of Hormuz as the main cause of the energy crisis. He also mentioned that US President Donald Trump had previously called on Ukraine to stop strikes on Russia's oil-refining infrastructure, claiming they were contributing to rising diesel fuel prices.
