Hecla Mining Shares Rebound with Silver Price Hike
Hecla Mining's shares rose 5.39% on Thursday to $18.96, following silver's late-session rebound to $65.715 an ounce. The move was broad-based, with other silver miners such as First Majestic Silver and Coeur Mining also increasing by 6.33% and 5.27%, respectively.
The company produced 4.2 million ounces of silver from continuing operations in the second quarter, up 8% sequentially, with a cash cost of negative $8.10 per silver ounce and an all-in sustaining cost (AISC) of $6.07 after by-product credits, excluding Keno Hill.
Keno Hill remains a production risk for Hecla, with lower expected output cited as the reason for narrowing its 2026 silver-production guidance to 15.1 million to 16.1 million ounces from 15.1 million to 16.5 million. The company's consolidated AISC does not yet include Keno Hill's costs.
The bull case for Hecla is that if silver remains near current levels, the company can generate significant cash flow due to its low reported by-product-adjusted costs at Greens Creek and Lucky Friday mines.
