Hindalco Q1 Profits Soar 75% on Higher Aluminium Prices
Hindalco Industries reported a significant increase in its quarterly profits, rising 75% to Rs 7,013 crore in Q1 FY27. The company's revenue for the quarter increased by 32% to Rs 84,825 crore, while EBITDA climbed 73% to Rs 14,989 crore.
The growth was driven by higher aluminium prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME), which helped offset modest growth in aluminium sales volumes. Managing Director Satish Pai attributed the success to favourable market conditions and supply shortages, as well as improved operational performance across its India and overseas businesses.
Hindalco's downstream aluminium business posted a record quarterly EBITDA, while the company's copper business also saw an increase in revenue and operating profit despite lower dispatches. The company has expanded its manufacturing footprint with new plants, including an aluminium battery foil plant at Aditya and a coated AC fins plant at Taloja.
Hindalco aims to source 50% of its aluminium scrap requirement domestically over the next three years and plans to commission its copper and e-waste recycling project in FY27. The company also commissioned a 65 MW round-the-clock captive renewable energy project at Aditya Aluminium, becoming the first company in India to operate such a facility.
