Hindustan Zinc Delivers Record Quarterly Performance Amid Global Metals Volatility
Hindustan Zinc reported its strongest quarterly performance in history for Q1 FY27, driven by record revenue, EBITDA, and net profit. The company's production costs fell to their lowest level since transitioning to underground mining, while global metals markets experienced significant volatility.
The zinc producer benefited from favorable commodity prices, with zinc prices climbing 31% year-over-year to $3,466 per metric ton, and copper prices surging 117% year-over-year to an average of $73.2 per troy ounce. Hindustan Zinc's EBITDA margin expanded to 59%, up approximately 900 basis points year-over-year.
The company declared an interim dividend of ₹11 per share, representing 550% of face value, with total dividend payout of ₹4,648 crore. Hindustan Zinc is expanding its production capacity by doubling refined metal capacity from current levels of 1,144 KTPA to 2,000 KTPA by fiscal 2030.
