Hindustan Zinc Soars on Zinc and Silver Price Bump
Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group mining company, reported a significant boost in its June-quarter net profit. The company's new CEO-designate, Amarendu Prakash, formerly of Steel Authority of India (SAIL), was named on the same day as the profit announcement.
The June-quarter net profit more than doubled to 54.69 billion rupees, with revenue from operations rising by 77% to 137.47 billion rupees. The increase in profits can be attributed to a surge in zinc and silver prices, with spot zinc increasing by 31% and spot silver more than doubling.
The net profit margin also improved significantly, jumping to 40% from 29%. This is a result of the company's increased revenue and relatively lower total expenses, which rose by 33.2% to 67.49 billion rupees.
