Hog Futures Decline Amid Anticipation for Quarterly Report
Hog futures declined mostly ahead of the USDA's quarterly report, according to recent market news. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange saw live and feeder cattle increase in value due to direct business and lower corn prices.
October live cattle closed at $220.92, up $2.15 from previous levels, while December live cattle rose by $2.90 to $222.35. October feeder cattle increased by $5.30 to $333.32 and November feeder cattle gained $6.30 to $329.50.
The direct cash cattle trade was quiet on Wednesday, with bids in Nebraska at $223 live and $350 dressed being passed over. Asking prices have yet to emerge, suggesting significant trade volume may be delayed until the end of the week.
