Mirae Asset Global Investments (Hong Kong) Limited has launched the first copper-focused exchange-traded fund (ETF) in Hong Kong, offering investors diversified access to global copper mining companies. The Global X Copper Miners ETF, listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong with stock codes 3014/9014, tracks the Solactive Copper Miners Index.

The index draws from the universe of the Solactive GBS Global Markets All Cap USD Index and applies liquidity requirements to select up to 30 eligible securities ranked by total market capitalization. Constituents are weighted by free-float market capitalization with an individual cap of 7%.

Copper miners sit at the source of the supply response, poised to benefit from the greater value placed on existing production and reserves. The rise of AI and data centres has opened a new vector of copper demand, but supply is struggling to keep pace.
