Hormuz Crisis May Delay QatarEnergy Expansion Projects
QatarEnergy's expansion projects may be delayed due to the ongoing crisis over the Strait of Hormuz. According to CEO Saad al-Kaabi, critical equipment is unable to reach Qatar, affecting production levels. The company is currently producing only a 'very minute' volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The Qatari LNG volumes are so large that they will be difficult for buyers to ignore once the crisis ends, Kaabi stated at the Qatar Economic Forum in New York.
The North Field East (NFE) expansion is scheduled to start up in 2027, with some LNG trains due to come online. The North Field South (NFS) expansion is set to begin production in 2028.
