Hormuz Crisis Threatens to Delay QatarEnergy's Expansion Projects

QatarEnergy's expansion projects may be delayed due to the crisis over the Strait of Hormuz, according to CEO Saad al-Kaabi. The critical equipment needed for these projects is unable to reach Qatar, causing a production bottleneck.

The North Field East (NFE) expansion, which was set to start up in 2027, and the North Field South (NFS) expansion, slated for 2028, may be impacted by this delay. Currently, QatarEnergy is producing only a 'very minute' volume of liquefied natural gas.

Al-Kaabi made these comments at the Qatar Economic Forum in New York on Sunday. The Strait of Hormuz crisis has already caused disruptions to shipping and trade in the region.
