Hormuz Disruptions Fuel Oil Price Fears as Iran Threatens US
Iran has threatened retaliatory action against the United States if it launches new attacks, causing a slowdown in shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
A total of seven commodity-carrying vessels passed through the strait on Monday (7/9), down from eight vessels the previous day, according to Kpler data.
The threat has raised concerns over the smooth flow of energy trade through one of the world's most strategic oil shipping routes. Iran had previously warned that energy infrastructure in the Gulf region could be targeted if Washington launches further attacks.
Goldman Sachs expects shipping disruptions in the Middle East to continue into next year, raising its oil price forecasts for Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for December 2026 and 2027.
