Hormuz Disruptions Shift Focus to Western Canada Oil Producers

The Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea disruptions have investors looking for oil and gas producers less directly exposed to these chokepoints. Obsidian Energy, a Canadian upstream producer, operates in Western Canada, generating CA$543.7 million in revenue from light oil, heavy oil, and natural gas assets.

This gives investors direct exposure to global oil and gas pricing without relying on Middle East export routes. Analysts forecast rapid earnings and revenue growth that outpaces the wider Canadian market and sector.

Infinity Natural Resources, a US-based producer, acquires, drills, and develops oil and gas acreage in the Appalachian Basin, with assets far from Persian Gulf shipping routes. The company generates US$522.7 million in revenue from crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids in the United States.
