Hormuz Oil Flows Surge as Middle East Producers Boost Exports
Crude oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are increasing, driven by Middle East producers ramping up exports despite ongoing security risks.
Around 6 million to 8 million barrels a day of crude are now being shipped through the world's key oil chokepoint, according to estimates from oil traders involved in and monitoring cargo activity.
This is roughly half prewar levels, and higher regional loadings and shuttle-tanker operations have helped restore flows.
The increase is keeping global crude oil prices in check, with Brent oil futures trading at about $88 a barrel on August 27.
