Hormuz Shipping Slumps Amid Intensifying Regional Tensions

The Strait of Hormuz saw a significant drop in vessel transits on Tuesday, with only four ships passing through the waterway. This is down from seven vessels recorded just a day earlier and well short of the 10-day average of 18.

This development comes amidst intensified attacks in the region, which have already had a significant impact on shipping traffic. The Strait of Hormuz handles around one-fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas supply.

The ships that passed through the waterway on Tuesday included two exiting vessels and two entering vessels. However, it is worth noting that some ships may be sailing through with their transponders turned off, which would not be accounted for in these figures.
