Hormuz Strait Talks Send Crude Oil Prices Plummeting
Crude oil prices plummeted on Wednesday, with Brent crude falling 2.6% to $86.30 per barrel and WTI decreasing 2.7% to $80.18.
The decline was attributed to diplomatic engagement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil supplies and liquefied natural gas shipments are transported.
Tehran and Muscat resumed discussions on establishing a temporary joint navigation passage through the strait, with Pakistani mediators indicating advancement in wider peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
A high-ranking Iranian representative stated that the strait would remain partially closed until Washington fulfills obligations outlined in a preliminary ceasefire framework agreed upon in June.
