Hormuz Tensions Rise as Oil Tankers Attacked
Two oil tankers were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz region on Friday, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency.
The first tanker was struck by an 'unidentified projectile' while exiting the strait, causing a small fire and blackout onboard. However, the crew was able to extinguish the flames, and there were no reported casualties or environmental impact.
The second tanker, which was east of Oman, also reported being hit by an 'unknown projectile.' Fortunately, all crew members on board were safe, and no damage was done to the environment.
The UKMTO is investigating the incidents, which come as tensions remain high in the region. The Hormuz passage has been at the center of a conflict between Iran and other countries, including the US and Israel.
