Houthi Attack Reduces Gulf Shipping Traffic Amid Naval Blockade

Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-al-Mandab strait has significantly decreased following a missile attack by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis on a Saudi oil tanker.

The data from Kpler showed that only two vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz, down from eight the previous day. Typically, 130-140 ships would pass through this waterway before the US-Israeli war with Iran began in February and Iran closed the strait.

In the Bab al-Mandab, only one commodity vessel crossed the strait on Wednesday, compared to 20 the previous day.
