Romania's state-controlled gas transmission operator Transgaz is exploring a potential strategic equity investment in US-based Argent LNG, developer of an export terminal at Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

The non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on August 6 establishes a framework for negotiations between the two companies.

The planned capacity of the export terminal is 25 million metric tonnes per year (Mtpa), with first commercial cargo expected in 2030.
