Houthi Attacks Escalate, Saudi Arabia Issues Warning in Jazan Province
Saudi Arabia's civil defense agency has issued an alert warning of a potential danger in the southern province of Jazan, which shares a border with Yemen. The move comes as the Iran-backed Houthi group intensifies attacks on Saudi energy facilities and targets linked to the kingdom. According to reports, the Houthis have repeatedly targeted energy and petroleum installations in Jazan over recent weeks.
The warning was issued by the National Early Warning Platform in Jazan Province, but the agency did not provide further details about the nature of the threat. The move is seen as a response to the escalating conflict between the Houthi forces and Saudi-backed government in Yemen. A fragile truce between the two parties had collapsed last month after a series of developments strained the already tense situation.
Yemen's security situation has deteriorated significantly, with the Houthis announcing a maritime blockade targeting Saudi Arabia and striking tankers in the Red Sea. The group also attacked Saudi oil infrastructure, prompting fears of a wider regional escalation. The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of lives, displaced millions, and pushed the country towards famine over more than a decade of fighting.
